Leading KNF Coordinator Arrested in Bandarban Raid

A Kuki-Chin National Front leader was detained by Rab last night following a coordinated operation involving the army, police, and Border Guard Bangladesh.

Cheosim Bom, a 55-year-old KNF founder member and key organizer of the armed group, is the person arrested.

At approximately 3:30 pm this afternoon, the media was briefed on the arrest by Lt Colonel HM Sajjad, the camp commander of RAB-15. The press briefing took place at the Bandarban Zilla Parishad auditorium.

Cheosim is linked to KNF chief Nathan Lanchao Bom, according to Sajjad. The arms training agreement between KNF and Jamatul Ansar Fil Hindal Sharqiya was primarily coordinated by Cheosim as well.

Intelligence sources claim that the agreement was inked at Cheosim’s home in Sharon Para of the Suwalok Union in Bandarban Sadar.

In connection with the continuing joint operation, Cheosim was taken into custody from his home last night.

After learning that he was remaining at home, Rab surrounded the village for 30 minutes while they awaited word, according to Lt Col Sajjad.

When they went into the residence after learning that Cheosim was inside, they discovered him imprisoned in a steel cupboard.

Cheosim claimed that when his family learned that law enforcement was there, they had confined him in the closet.

From the residence, an airgun was found.
